2 Hinsdale Mansions Each Sell For Nearly $7M

HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale has seen its share of teardowns of historic homes to make way for new ones.

In August, two mansions built over the last decade on one of Hinsdale's brick streets sold for nearly $7 million each.

The houses are at 219 and 244 E. First St., east of downtown.

The five-bedroom, six-bathroom house at 219 First, which was built in 2018 by McKenna Homes, sold for $6.95 million. It sold in 2021 for $5.7 million, according to real estate websites.

Among other things, the 10,800-square-foot house features a limestone exterior and an elevator for all three levels, its advertisement says.

The latest annual tax bill was $86,000.

On the same block, the house at 244 First sold for $6.8 million. It had originally been listed for $7.3 million, according to real estate websites.

The house includes five bedrooms and seven bathrooms. It has three fireplaces on the main floor.

The annual tax bill is $73,000.

The Chicago Tribune was the first media outlet to report on the mansion sales. It said real estate agent Dawn McKenna was on both sides of each transaction.

The newspaper also reported that the record-high home sales price in Hinsdale was $7.7 million in 2021, with Information Resources CEO Andrew Appel buying it.
