4-Car Hit-And-Run, Burglary: Hinsdale Cops

The person who caused the crash drove away, police said. The car was reported stolen.

HINSDALE, IL – In the last few days, Hinsdale police responded to cases involving a hit-and-run accident, a burglary, the theft of six Christmas trees, damage to a religious institute and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest Hinsdale police reports:

Hit-and-run crash

  • A rollover accident involving four cars happened about 8 a.m. Nov. 23 at Route 83 and Ogden Avenue. The driver who is believed to have caused the accident drove away, leaving behind the front bumper and license plate. Police contacted the vehicle owner, who had reported the car stolen to Lyons police. The case is pending.

Burglary

  • A house in the 500 block of York Road was burglarized between 10 a.m. Nov. 18 and 3 p.m. Nov. 21. Someone forced entry through the front door and rummaged inside. Nothing of value was missing.

Christmas tree theft

  • Someone stole six Christmas trees valued about $200 each between midnight Nov. 20 and 9 a.m. Nov. 22 from the parking lot at Fuller’s Hardware, 35 E. First St.

Damage to institute

  • Three building windows and a passenger side mirror of a box truck were broken between 1 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Institute of Basic Life Principles, 950 N. Madison St. Police found no signs of entry into the building.

Fugitive driver

  • Police attempted to stop a driver on a speeding violation about 1 a.m. Nov. 22 at Route 83 and 55th Street, but the person sped away from police. Charges are pending.

Damage to car

  • Someone damaged the mirrors in a car parked in the 300 block of West 59th Street between 11 a.m. Nov. 21 and noon Nov. 22. Police have identified the suspect.

Identity theft

  • A resident in the 300 block of Ravine Road told police that someone used the resident’s airline miles account to buy four airline tickets valued at $3,923. The theft occurred between Sept. 18 and Oct. 28. It was reported Monday.
