4 Hinsdale Car Break-ins, With Knife Stolen In One: Cops

Mailed checks have been intercepted in recent days in Hinsdale, police said.

HINSDALE, IL – In the last few days, Hinsdale police handled cases involving car burglaries, forgeries, DUIs and driving violations. Here is information from the latest police reports:

Car burglaries

  • Someone broke into a car parked in a driveway and stole a baton and hunting knife valued at $100 about 4:30 a.m. Saturday in the 10 block of Princeton Road. A wood panel in the center console was damaged.
  • A vehicle in a driveway was broken into between 4 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Phillippa Street. The car was rummaged through, and a cellphone and $20 were stolen.
  • Two vehicles were burglarized shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday in the 500 and 700 blocks of Phillippa Street. Both cars were parked in driveways, with their interiors rummaged through.

  • A suspect intercepted a check mailed by the village of Hinsdale. A village employee was informed that the recipient did not receive the check and that it had been deposited by a suspect. The forgery occurred between May 8 and June 8. The case is pending.
  • A suspect intercepted checks mailed from a Hinsdale post office dropbox. The suspect altered the recipient information and deposited the checks. The crime occurred between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. June 5. The incident was reported four days later. Another case was reported at the post office, happening between June 2 and June 9.
  • A suspect intercepted a check mailed from Hinsdale Management, 21 Spinning Wheel Road. It was reported Friday. The suspect altered the recipient information and deposited the check. The case is pending.

DUI

  • Sonia L. Thompson, 30, of Chicago, was arrested about 9:30 p.m. June 5 on charges of felony aggravated DUI, driving with a revoked license, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, transportation of open alcohol by a driver and driving an uninsured vehicle. According to a police report, she crashed into a guardrail at the Hinsdale hospital, 120 N. Oak St. She refused testing to determine her blood-alcohol content. Officers found a bottle of wine in her car. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail. She was wanted on a warrant from the Oak Park Police Department.
  • Omar Perez-Reyes, 20, of Downers Grove, was arrested about 3 a.m. Saturday at Ogden Avenue and Route 83 on charges of DUI, speeding and no valid driver's license. He submitted to testing that indicated he was over the legal limit. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Amanda C. Spataro Conoboy, 35, of Willow Springs, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of East 55th Street on charges of DUI and speeding. She refused testing to determine her blood-alcohol content. She was released and given a date to appear in court.

  • Keiondra Brown, 26, of Bellwood, was cited about 6 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of West 55th Street on charges of driving with a suspended license and driving with a suspended registration. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
