Accused Burglar and Female Friend Steal Booze, Take Bath In Home's Jacuzzi: Prosectors

Prosecutors said man stole keys to home after delivering car there a year ago.

A 34-year-old man was charged with residential burglary after he broke into a Burr Ridge home and took a bath in the homeowner’s Jacuzzi with a female friend, Cook County prosecutors said in court on Monday,

According to the charges, a house sitter confronted Kostov coming down the stairs of the home in the 6500 block of County Lane Road around 4:45 p.m. June 20. When Kostov saw the house sitter he stopped and fled from the home.

Kostov was apprehended and the housesitter positively identified him as the man he saw inside the home.

Prosecutors said that Kostov admitted to stealing the keys to the home a year after he delivered a car when he was working as a porter.

Kostov and the woman stole alcohol from the home, then went upstairs to the bathroom to drink it. After they drank the liquor, they bathed together in the Jacuzzi.

Prosecutors said that when Kostov tried to drain the tub the water level went below the jets causing water to spray to all over the bathroom.

Water leaked through the downstairs ceiling, causing about $300 worth of damage, in addition to a damaged door frame on a closet, according to court records.

There was no indication that the female friend was arrested, since Kostov allegedly gave the impression that his family owned the home.

The public defender said that Kostov was married and lived with his wife.

“This is another chapter in my book,” Cook County Judge Peter Felice said.

Bail was set at $20,000 with ten percent to apply. Kostov is due back in court on July 13.
