HINSDALE, IL — For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to look for your new family member is at Hinsdale Humane Society. This week's 'Adoptable Pet' is Pepper, who is available for adoption at the humane society.
Pepper is a 3-year-old cat, weighing about 12 pounds. The society said he has a challenging life up until now, living on the streets and once getting shot by a BB gun. However, he still has a gentle, sweet demeanor.
According to the society, Pepper is considered a special needs adoption due to his Feline immunodeficiency virus, and he needs a special home. He will lead a long and health life, but his family needs to watch over his health and treat him quickly if he falls ill since his immune system is compromised.

Other than that, Pepper does not need any special care. The society said he is adoptable to families with children five years and older. He needs to be the only cat in the house and is a snuggler and a hugger.
The Hinsdale Humane Society is located at 22 N. Elm St., in Hinsdale. The society is open from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays; 12 to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. It is closed on Mondays.
