Adventist Hinsdale Hospital Announces Affiliation with Lurie Children's Hospital

Partnership provides greater access to the nation's best care for pediatric patients in western suburbs

Providing a new level of pediatric care for families in DuPage, Cook and Will counties, Adventist Hinsdale Hospital (AHH) announces an affiliation with Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, the largest pediatric provider in the region, to provide 24/7 Pediatric Hospitalist coverage.

As one of Lurie Children’s 14 partner community hospitals and outreach locations, AHH patients now have 24-hour pediatric coverage, including inpatient pediatric care, emergency room consults and support for obstetrics. Through the affiliation, physicians practicing at AHH’s sister hospitals (part of Adventist Midwest Health –AMH), have access to the new services through patient transfer. The other three hospitals are Adventist GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights, Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, and Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital (ALMH).

The Lurie partnership provides AHH primary care physicians and staff with timely and ongoing communication, nursing education and quality improvement. These further enhance care and services for AMH pediatric patients. Hospitalists are skilled, board certified physicians who practice full time in the hospital. This specialty has evolved because in today’s health care environment, most patients are spending less time in the hospital, while requiring higher levels of on-site physician care. Physicians also guide and monitor treatment plans around- the-clock while coordinating care with family physicians, pediatricians and nursing staff.

“We welcome the pediatric Hospitalists who come to us through this new affiliation with Lurie Children’s, one of the nation’s top children’s hospitals,” said Michael Goebel, CEO of AHH and ALMH. “They will help us continue to fulfill our philosophy and mission by providing quality and compassionate care. Equally important, the Hospitalists are committed to collaborating with us to increase volume and business growth.”

David L. Crane, president and CEO of AMH, says the Lurie Children’s affiliation “expands our patient-centered philosophy by expanding our pediatric care to more fully embrace the whole family, so that all can receive high-quality, cost-efficient care in a setting familiar to them. This is in service of AMH’s mission to work as a partner with patients, families and healers to achieve optimal health for our patients in a comprehensive, highly personal environment.”
