Adventist Hinsdale Hospital Announces Groundbreaking for New Pavilion

Pavilion will include a new critical care unit and surgical services department.

Adventist Hinsdale Hospital is embarking on an ambitious project that marks a renewed commitment to patient-centered care and advanced technologies: A new patient pavilion featuring private patient rooms and many home-like amenities.  Other improvements include newly-designed patient units that bring caregivers closer to the bedside with modern workstations and corridors.  There will be a new critical care unit and surgical services department, plus a bright and spacious lobby and a new chapel.

Earlier this summer, pre-construction activities began for the pavilion. Crews cleared shrubs and trees from the site and created construction staging areas across the street on the hospital's east campus. In July, the main (Oak Street) entrance to the hospital closed. Traffic now enters the visitors parking garage and the hospital from Elm Street, which borders the west side of the hospital campus. All patient drop-offs, parking and valet access now take place within the visitor parking garage. It's taken some getting used to, but signs in and around the campus were installed remind patients and visitors of the changes. The Elm Street entrance will be used for the 18-month duration of the project.

At 6 p.m. Sept. 23, the hospital is hosting a capital campaign kick-off and groundbreaking celebration. A reception is scheduled at 6 p.m., with the program to begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Dr. David B. Calandra Circle on the hospital campus, 120 N. Oak St., Hinsdale. The public is invited to attend, but space and parking are limited. RSVP by calling 630-856-7525. Please park in the east parking garage; enter at Walnut Street.
