Alleged Racial Slurs At Hinsdale Central Under Investigation

Baseball players were said to have made the slurs during an away game against LTHS.

HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale Central High School's baseball players are alleged to have made racial slurs during an April 21 away game, a school district official confirmed Friday.

The slurs were said to have happened during a game against Lyons Township High School.

"We are deeply troubled by the allegations that members of the baseball team from Hinsdale Central may have engaged in inappropriate and offensive behavior that included the use of racial slurs," Hinsdale School District 86 spokesman Chris Jasculca said in an email to Patch. "This type of behavior does not align with what we value and believe in as a district, and will not be tolerated."

"We have also spoken with all members of the school's baseball program about our expectations for the rest of this season and beyond," he said.

Patch inquired about the situation after seeing District 86 public records that included a complaint about the alleged slurs.

According to the complaint, a Central player loudly referred to an African American Lyons Township player by the N-word and as "boy." This happened more than once, the complaint said.

The players also loudly called various Lyons Township players as "coke addict," "f------ loser," "f------ fat" and having a mother "I'd like to f---," according to the complaint.
