America's Got Talent Semi-Finalist to Visit Clarendon Hills

Singer and songwriter Sharon Irving, an America’s Got Talent semi-finalist, will perform at the Christian Church of Clarendon Hills on Valentine’s Day, Sunday, February 14 at both the 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services.

A native of Chicago, Irving grew up in the South Shore neighborhood and is the daughter of famed jazz musician and former musical director for Miles Davis, Robert Irving III. She is the granddaughter of the late Rev. Morris H. Tynes, noted civil rights leader, writer, singer and pastor. She attended North Park University in Chicago where she further developed her heart for racial reconciliation and social justice, and realized her calling to be a “voice for the voiceless” through her words and music.

As a semi-finalist on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, season ten, Irving received standing ovations from the audience and the four celebrity judges, who gave her performances rave reviews, calling her voice “amazing,” “inspirational,” “brilliant,” and “perfection.” Matthew Rogers, Senior Minister at the Christian Church of Clarendon Hills, echoes those sentiments, “My household was rooting big-time for Sharon during the most recent season of America’s Got Talent. I’m thrilled our church is offering a setting where she can share her immense vocal talent and her message right here in our community.”

Sharon is currently part of the worship team at Willow Creek Community Church in Chicago and Barrington, IL, and is a lead singer with the popular Chicago band Pocket Radio, which blends soul, hip hop funk and fusion. She is currently working on her debut album entitled Bennett Avenue, scheduled for release later this year.
