District 86 said Adams most recently served as secondary English-as-a-second-language instructional specialist for Crown Point Community School Corporation, a school district in northwest Indiana.

The new superintendent, Chip Pettit, comes from a nearby Indiana district.

For a few years, Pettit and Adams worked together at Crown Point High School, where Pettit was principal and Adams was English department chairman.

In District 86, Adams will support instruction and educator development, the district said.

Over more than 15 years in education, Adams has held roles as an English teacher, department chair and instructional specialist. District 86 said his work has included leading curriculum implementation, facilitating professional learning communities and partnering with administrators to use data to strengthen teaching and learning.

Adams holds a bachelor of science in music, English and education from Indiana University. He also earned a master of arts with distinction in English from DePaul University.
