Hinsdale Poised To Spend $1.4M On New Kiddie Pool

The existing pool had leaks that required its demolition to make way for a new one.

HINSDALE, IL – The kiddie pool at Hinsdale Community Pool is set to be renovated for the first time in 33 years.

On Tuesday, the Village Board plans to vote on a $1.4 million contract with Waukegan-based Stuckey Construction to replace the children's pool.

During 2024 and 2025, the kiddie pool experienced significant water loss because of underground plumbing failures, according to a village memo.

Emergency repairs were made. But engineers determined more leaks existed beneath the pool slab that could not be reliably repaired without extensive demolition, the memo said.

Also, the existing pool no longer meets current building and accessibility standards, the village said. It was taken out of service at the end of the 2025 season.

In addition to the $1.4 million project, the village is also looking to spend $71,000 on Vortex-branded children's pool water play equipment.

Construction is set to start this fall, allowing for an opening next year.
