Animal Explorer Summer Camps Offered

HINSDALE, IL – The West Suburban Humane Society will host six different Animal Explorer Summer Camps for children ages 6 to 11 at the Unitarian Church of Hinsdale, 17 W. Maple Ave. this summer.

Newly hired Humane Education Manager Doug Grier created the camps.

“Staff will teach children about cats and dogs with hands-on activities, crafts, and games to educate the importance of shelters and shelter animals,” he said.

Here's a description of the camps that are offered, via the West Suburban Humane Society:

Animal Friends
Learn about cats, dogs, animal care, shelters, adoptions, and more.
June 10-14 (ages 9-11)
June 17-21 (ages 6-8)
9:00 AM to Noon $160

Let’s Learn About Cats and Dogs
Why do cats meow? Do dogs see in color? Jump into the amazing world of cats and dogs and learn about animal behavior, breeds, characteristics, proper care and feeding, training, toys, and more.
June 24-28 (ages 9-11)
July 8-12 (ages 6-8)
9:00 AM to Noon $160

Animal Investigators
Learn about the role of animal control and service officers. How do you know if an animal is being neglected and what can you do? What do animals need from us?
July 15-19 (ages 9-11)
9:00 AM to Noon $160

The World of Animals
Learn about wildlife around the world, farm animals, and pets such as fish and reptiles. Enjoy surprise visits from some special guests.
July 22-26 (ages 6-8)
9:00 AM to Noon $160
