Art Expo to include pieces from School D181 students

April 28 event sponsored by WSCAE

Artwork created by students from School District 181 will be among hundreds of works of elementary and middle school creations on display from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the fourth annual West Suburban Consortium for Academic Excellence (WSCAE) Student Art Expo at the Cheney Mansion, 220 N. Euclid Avenue, Oak Park.

During the free event, student artists from 55 schools in 15 school districts will have an opportunity to discuss their artwork with the general public, and get input on their pieces from a number of local professional artists. Also scheduled are live demonstrations led by the Oak Park Art League, and opportunities to show support for the students by sending them “fan mail.”

Art activities for the general public will include weaving, clay, drawing and painting.

District 181 art teachers will select 12 students from each District 181 middle school and eight from each elementary school to participate.
