Wellness House will host two free Hot Topics in Prostate Cancer events in September, giving people across Chicagoland direct access to physicians and current information about prostate cancer treatment. The programs will be held in Hinsdale and on Chicago’s Southwest Side, with no cost to attend.
The events are part of Wellness House’s effort to reduce barriers to reliable cancer information. People with prostate cancer and their loved ones can hear directly from specialists, bring questions to live Q&A sessions and learn more about managing life during and after treatment.
The annual Hinsdale event will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wellness House – The Kay & Mike Birck Home of Hope, 131 N. County Line Road.
Physicians from leading Chicago-area health systems will discuss developments in medical oncology, radiation therapy and surgery. The program will also examine emerging treatments and clinical research for advanced-stage prostate cancer. Breakfast and lunch are included.

Wellness House will also bring the program to Chicago on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Arturo Velasquez Institute, 2800 S. Western Ave. The Chicago event extends the program’s reach to communities on the city’s West and South sides, offering free access to cancer specialists in a neighborhood setting.
The Chicago program will address healthy eating and sexual health during and after prostate cancer treatment. Dr. Kevin Zhang of City of Hope will provide updates in medical oncology, followed by a live Q&A. Dinner is included. Both events are free, but registration is required.
Both events are sponsored by Bayer and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Chicago.
