Wellness House will hold two free nutrition fairs this October, expanding access to evidence-based guidance from oncology nutrition professionals. Events in Hinsdale and Chicago will give people affected by cancer and their loved ones practical information they can use during treatment and beyond.
Reliable oncology nutrition guidance can be difficult to find, particularly when cancer treatment changes appetite, energy or the way food tastes. By offering these events at no cost in two locations, Wellness House is reducing financial and geographic barriers to specialized support.
The Taste of Wellness House Nutrition Fair will take place Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Wellness House, The Kay & Mike Birck Home of Hope, 131 N. County Line Road in Hinsdale. Doors open at 9 a.m., and educational sessions begin at 10 a.m.
The fair will explore practical ways to incorporate whole-food, plant-based eating during and after cancer treatment. Sessions will address convenient food choices and the role of protein in cancer care. Cooking demonstrations and hands-on workshops will help participants apply what they learn at home, while local vendors will share additional resources.

Children ages 5 to 14 can take part in gardening and movement activities, along with cooking demonstrations, crafts and games. Spanish-language programming will also be available.
A second free Wellness House nutrition fair will be held Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Malcolm X College in Chicago. The Chicago location extends the program’s reach and reduces the distance many city residents must travel for specialized nutrition support.
