Grab your friends and head to Downtown Downers Grove on Thursday, September 24, for Ladies Day &amp; Night Out: Schools Just Wanna Have Funds, a full day of shopping, dining and fun with the bonus of supporting local elementary school PTAs!
Throughout the day and evening, 30 participating Downtown Downers Grove businesses will offer specials, promotions, live music, fun and more. Shoppers and diners can turn in a Hall Pass with their purchases, and participating businesses will donate 10% of each Hall Pass purchase to Downers Grove elementary school PTAs.
The donations will be divided evenly among participating schools, but there’s a little friendly competition, too!
The school with the highest attendance will receive an additional $250 donation, while the second- and third-place schools will each receive $100 in Downtown Downers Grove Gift Cards.
Every person counts toward attendance, and every qualifying purchase helps increase the donation. Participants are encouraged to invite friends, grandparents, spouses, neighbors and anyone else who wants to enjoy a day &amp; evening downtown while supporting local schools.
This event is a great example of what supporting local is all about. You are supporting our downtown businesses while those businesses, in turn, are giving back to our local schools. It’s a fun day with a real community impact.
Participants should remember to turn in a Hall Pass with each purchase to ensure the purchase counts toward the fundraiser and their school’s attendance.

Remington Woods to Host Saturday Open House as Final Phase is Complete
Remington Woods will host a Saturday Open House from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering prospective buyers the opportunity to tour the final available homes in the community’s completed final phase.
The event will be hosted by Brandy Crask, Director of Sales, who has played a central role in shaping the homes, finishes and buyer experience at Remington Woods.
Located at 22601 S. Remington Dr. in Channahon, Remington Woods is a 55+ single-family community featuring brand-new ranch-style homes, spacious private yards and a peaceful wooded setting.
“There is a feeling here that is hard to put into words until you drive through it,” Crask says. “These are some of the quietest streets you will ever experience, surrounded by mature trees and beautiful single-family homes. I had the opportunity to design these homes with the finishes and luxury upgrades I would want in my own home — larger islands, upgraded cabinetry, beautiful lighting, spacious primary suites and details that make the homes feel elevated from the moment you walk in.”
For Crask, the completion of the final phase is especially meaningful. This community has become very personal to me,” she says. “I have watched these streets come together home by home, helped buyers choose where they wanted to live, and designed homes around the way people actually want to live in this next chapter of their lives. There will never be another phase added. When these final homes are sold, Remington Woods is complete. That makes this open house feel a little different.”

Homes in the final phase are currently offered from approximately $135,000 to $182,500, with ranch-style floor plans ranging from approximately 1,280 to 1,568 square feet.

Hinsdale Seventh-day Adventist Church invites the community to a special Two-Piano Community Concert featuring acclaimed pianists Eric Tran and Nathan Cheung of Happy Dog Duo on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
Known for bringing artistry, creativity, and joy to the classical music world, Happy Dog Duo has performed together for two decades. Their performances have taken them across Europe, Asia, and 20 U.S. states, with appearances at prestigious venues and institutions including Carnegie Hall, The Juilliard School, Stanford University, and the Chautauqua Institution. They have also been featured on NPR, WQXR, and Aspen Public Radio.
The concert will showcase traditional two-piano classical repertoire, along with several of Tran and Cheung’s original compositions. Together, the award-winning duo combines exceptional musicianship with an engaging performance style that makes classical music both meaningful and accessible to audiences of all ages.
Tran and Cheung are the only duo to have won three consecutive major North American duo piano competitions and were the first Americans to earn first prize in Spain’s Antón García Abril International Chamber Music Competition.
