Car Burglarized At Hinsdale Shopping Center: Cops
The window was broken and a handbag was stolen in broad daylight, police said.

HINSDALE, IL – In the last few days, Hinsdale police handled cases involving a car burglary, damage to a bus, fraud, theft, check fraud and DUIs. Here is information from the latest Hinsdale police reports:
Car burglary
- Someone broke a window on a parked car and stole a woman's handbag containing financial documents and identification about 3 p.m. Monday at 16 Grant Square.

- Someone was seen on surveillance camera damaging a school bus about 7:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at Hinsdale Adventist Academy, 631 E. Hickory St. The incident was reported Thursday.
Theft
- Someone stole a leaf blower valued at $620 from the front of a house about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of East First Street, where the victim was working. The case is pending.
Fraud

- A resident in the 400 block of Justina Street told police Oct. 16 about someone calling and claiming to be a computer security tech. The person requested remote access to the resident's computer and requested a check for security services. Police labeled the crime as a deceptive practice.
Failure to report
- A 21-year-old Maywood man was arrested about 3 p.m. Oct. 16 near Washington and Fourth streets on a Cook County warrant and on charges of failing to report an accident, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, driving without insurance, having an expired driver's license and failing to yield. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
Check fraud
- A resident at the apartment complex at 10 Spinning Wheel Road told police Monday that someone had written 10 fraudulent checks from a trust bank account on Thursday and Friday.
DUIs
- A 30-year-old Aurora man was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Friday at Ogden Avenue and Route 83 on charges of DUI, speeding 35 mph or more over the limit, driving without insurance and improperly using lanes. He refused testing to determine his blood-alcohol content. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
- A 53-year-old Hammond, Indiana, man was arrested about 2 a.m. Sunday at York and Oak Brook roads on charges of DUI, failing to signal when required, driving without insurance and improperly using lanes. He refused testing to determine his blood-alcohol content. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
