HINSDALE, IL – A man who bought a $121,000 car earlier this month from a Hinsdale dealership arranged to have it delivered, but it never arrived, local police said.

Patch obtained the police report through a public records request.

On March 4, the man bought a black 2025 Cadillac Escalade in person from Jaguar Land Rover Hinsdale, 336 E. Ogden Ave., the report said.

The man flew home to Atlanta and completed the purchase with a wire transfer the next day to pay for the car, police said.

The dealership confirmed it received the payment on March 6, so the man hired Smart Auto and Service to ship the Cadillac to Atlanta, police said. Smart contracted with Payless Auto Network to be the carrier, police said.

A contact person for Payless said his company got a copy of the driver's license for the person picking up the Cadillac from Smart, according to the report.

The car was to be delivered on the afternoon of March 9, but it never showed, police said.

Payless told police it never received the order and may have been hacked.

Police said the case remains an "active" investigation.
