Car Stolen In Hinsdale, Dozen Others Burglarized: Cops

HINSDALE, IL – A dozen cars were burglarized overnight Monday in Hinsdale, with one stolen in the 400 block of South Thurlow Street, police said.

The area of the burglaries was roughly bounded by Garfield Street, Route 83, south of the railroad tracks and 59th Street, police said.

Also, suspects entered two garages, one in the 400 block of West 58th Place and the other in the 10 block of North Monroe Street, according to a police news release.

Authorities believe the latest rash of crimes appears connected to car thefts the same night in Elmhurst and car burglaries just south of Hinsdale's village limit.

In Hinsdale, the burglarized cars were unlocked and the stolen car's key fob was inside, police said.

Criminal activity has picked up in the last three weeks in southeastern DuPage County, police said.

As such, the Hinsdale Police Department plans to increase patrols in the overnight hours and pursue leads in the latest cases.
