Car Stolen In Hinsdale During Sales Transaction: Cops

The theft happened outside a local business, police report says.

HINSDALE, IL — The owner of a car apparently thought he had a deal to sell it. That wasn't the case.

The owner told Hinsdale police that he was selling a black BMW X3 through an online marketplace. About 8:30 p.m. Oct. 6, he met a buyer in the Mobil gas station parking lot at 8 W. Chicago Ave., where they agreed on a sales price of $11,000, police said.

However, the suspect gave the owner $8,200 and fled in the BMW, police said. The case is pending.
