HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale Central High School's pool is 2 years old, but officials are planning repairs to the deck next year.

The school has been reporting ongoing issues with its pool deck tile.

Last week, Hinsdale High School District 86 board member Terri Walker updated her colleagues on the pending project to replace the tile.

She said architectural firm Arcon would provide design recommendations, which a third-party pool expert would review.

The district hoped to go out to bid in November, with the project starting in April or May, Walker said. It is expected to be done by the fall swim season.

In June, the district said it had been unable to resolve the problem with Arcon, construction manager Pepper Construction and Lowery Tile.

A district spokesman told Patch on Tuesday that the project would mean no cost for the district. It will be covered by Arcon and Lowery, he said.

The pool was completed in August 2021. It was estimated to cost millions of dollars, but officials have said they don't have a final figure because of the way the project was bid out.
