Chase Suspect Hits Westmont House: Cops
An officer tried to stop the driver for not having his headlights on, police said.
WESTMONT, IL – During a police chase, a suspect on Wednesday ended up running into a house at 60th and Williams streets in Westmont, police said.
Shortly after midnight, a Westmont police officer tried to stop a driver who did not have his headlights on while traveling west on 59th Street near Diane Main Park, Police Chief Jim Gunther said in an email to Patch.
Instead, the driver sped away, ran a stop sign at 59th and Williams and turned south on Williams, Gunther said. The driver lost control mid-block, striking a speed limit sign, knocking down a light pole and hitting the house, police said.
