Clarendon Hills Breaks Virus Record: Agencies
Hinsdale's number of coronavirus cases falls slightly, but still high.
HINSDALE, IL — Clarendon Hills broke a record in weekly coronavirus cases, while Hinsdale's number dipped a little, according to county health agencies.
As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 2,648 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, up 179 in the last week. The previous week, the village recorded 198 new cases, breaking a record.
Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 1,432 coronavirus cases, up 102 in the last week. The previous week, the village saw 93 new cases, breaking a record.

Hinsdale saw no new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total at 63 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 14.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 150 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 131 in Darien, 148 in DuPage County, 158 in Elmhurst, 159 in La Grange Park, 163 in suburban Cook County, 164 in Clarendon Hills, 171 in La Grange and 173 in Western Springs.
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 2,382,437, a 10.8 percent increase from the previous week, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 28,361.
Nationally, 59.5 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, a 10.6 percent increase from the previous week, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 834,077 people have died from the virus in the United States.
