Clarendon Hills Cop Saves Choking Baby

The baby had been choking before the officer arrived at the house, the village said.

CLARENDON HILLS, IL – A Clarendon Hills police sergeant saved a 1-month-old baby’s life while on duty last month, the village says.

At Monday's Village Board meeting, Sgt. Zach Finfrock was honored for the rescue.

In response to a call, Finfrock entered a house about 2 p.m. Jan. 19 in the 500 block of Willow Creek Court, according to the village. He discovered that the baby, who had been choking, was pale, not breathing and unresponsive. The mother was with the baby. The officer performed the infant Heimlich maneuver, enabling the child to breathe again, the village said.
