CLARENDON HILLS, IL – Clarendon Hills and its fire chief are poised to part ways.

Three months ago, the village placed Chief Brian Leahy on leave as it launched an investigation into possible problems with the fire department's compensation system.

On Tuesday, the Village Board plans to vote on a retirement agreement for Leahy. The village did not include the document in its packet for the board's meeting. Patch filed a public records request for it.

The 68-year-old Leahy joined the department 52 years ago and has served as its chief since 1985, midway through Ronald Reagan's presidency. Leahy is the fire department's only full-time employee.

In December, the Village Board voted to enact a mandatory retirement age of 65 for firefighters.
