Clarendon Hills Library goes "Off the Beaten Path" this summer

Summer Reading Challenge for all ages:

Beginning June 6, readers of all ages can take up the challenge to read more for more rewards. Complete information on registration, keeping track of your reading, and rewards on our website.

For Preschoolers:

Family Story Time (ages 2-5 with adult), Preschool Art Story Time (ages 3-5 with adult), and Farmers’ Market Story Time at the Clarendon Hills Farmers’ Market are offered throughout the summer. Check our website for specific times, dates and registration information.

For Elementary School Kids:

Summer programming kicks off with Rock Collecting aided by an educator from the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, followed by a night “Under the Stars” with Firefly Family Theatre. We finish the month with “Terrific Trees” and “Hilarious Hiking.” Register for all these programs at clarendonhillslibrary.org/kids/programs.

Just for Middle Schoolers:

Each month we’ve planned special programs just for incoming 6-8 graders. We begin on Wednesday, June 22 with a hands-on 3D Pen Workshop.

High School Students:

If you want to give back to your community, need service hours, or want a great experience to write about in your college application, come volunteer with us this summer. Check the “Teen Opportunities” page on our website for complete information on volunteering.

Adults:

We’re offering the opportunity for adults to explore beyond the beaten path as well. The summer kicks off with “Chicago Transit Hikes,” a guide to using Metra and other public transportation to create your own nature hikes, and for more ideas for exploring, adults can register for “What Are We Doing This Weekend?” to learn about some hidden gems in the Chicago area to check out.
