Released at the height of the Great Depression, this film provided escapist entertainment at its best with stars Ruby Keeler, Dick Powell and Joan Blondell, and choreographer/director Busby Berkeley. The notable exception is the musical number "Remember My Forgotten Man," a gritty evocation of Depression-era poverty that Berkeley was inspired to create after witnessing the 1932 Veterans March on Washington. Refreshments will be served. Register for this free showing at www.clarendonhillslibrary.org.
