Clarendon Hills Police Offer Gun Locks Through Project ChildSafe

The Clarendon Hills Police Department is offering gun locks through Project ChildSafe.

CLARENDON HILLS, IL — The Clarendon Hills Police Department is offering gun locks through Project ChildSafe. According to the department, these locks help to discourage unauthorized access to guns. If you own a gun, you can go to the police department to pick up your free gun lock.

The department said no firearm’s safety or lock can be a substitute for safe, careful gun handling and storage. This lock is intended to discourage unauthorized access to a firearm, particularly by young children. However, according to the department, this lock may be defeated by a determined individual using tools or other aggressive means and may not prevent intentional misuse of a firearm.
