Clarendon Hills Resident Named Distinguished Young Woman

CLARENDON HILLS, IL — A Clarendon Hills resident has been named a Distinguished Young Woman for 2019. According to the Distinguished Young Women of Illinois, Annika Agrawal, was honored as a Distinguished Young Woman of Clarendon Hills, and will compete in the state program on July 31 in Tinley Park.
According to the program, Distinguished Young Women is a unique program that combines the chance to win college scholarships with Life Skills training, preparing young women for the world after high school. The program, which takes place in all 50 states and Washington DC, is designed for young women entering their senior year of high school and is free to enter.
The program said Agrawal will compete against 10 other young women to compete for the title of Distinguished Young Women of Illinois of 2019. Applicants were chosen based on a selection of criteria, including extracurricular involvement and academic achievement. During the Distinguished Young Women program, participants will be evaluated in the categories of Scholastics, Interview, Talent, Fitness and Self-Expression. The Illinois state winner will go on to participate in the National Finals, which will be held in Mobile, Alabama during June 2019.

Agrawal is a senior at Hinsdale Central High School, where she participates in Science Olympiad, Math Team and is a member of the National Honors Society. She will share her talent of playing piano during the state program, the program said.
The Distinguished Young Women of Illinois program is open to the public and will take place on Tuesday, July 31 at 6 p.m. at Central Middle School in Tinley Park. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free to Tinley Park residents. For more information about Distinguished Young Women of Illinois, visit their website.
