Clarendon Hills Sees Big Hike In Virus Cases
Hinsdale, meanwhile, experiences a smaller increase in its caseload.
HINSDALE, IL — Clarendon Hills saw its coronavirus caseload rise by nearly a quarter in the last week. As of Sunday, the village had 91 virus cases, up from 74 the previous week, according to health authorities.
Meanwhile, Hinsdale saw its caseload increase by 11, to 245.
As of Sunday, Hinsdale's number of coronavirus-related deaths remained at 38, authorities say. Clarendon Hills has recorded one virus-related death. Hinsdale's number is likely driven by an outbreak at the ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 13.4 coronavirus cases per thousand people. The figure compares to 7.9 in Darien, 8.7 in Western Springs, 8.9 in La Grange Park, 10.4 in Clarendon Hills, 10.6 in Elmhurst, 11.8 in DuPage County, 13.7 in Burr Ridge, 16.5 in suburban Cook County and 17.8 in La Grange.
As of Friday, ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home had reported 168 coronavirus cases and 33 related deaths, according to the state Department of Public Health. Those numbers have barely budged in recent weeks. Nursing home numbers include employees who may live in other towns. Such employees are not listed as being from Hinsdale in the case numbers.
While Hinsdale has a hospital in its boundaries — Amita Adventist Medical Center Hinsdale — that would not explain the village's caseload. Coronavirus patients are counted at the place of their residence, not at the hospital where they are admitted, according to the state.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 171,424, up 6 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 7,398 state residents.
Nationally, 4.2 million people have caught the virus and 145,982 have died from it.
