Clarendon Hills Sees Lowest Virus Rate Hike Since October

Hinsdale's coronavirus rate of increase is up slightly from a week earlier.

HINSDALE, IL — Clarendon Hills last week saw its lowest rate of increase in new coronavirus cases since October, while Hinsdale's rate went up slightly, according to county health agencies.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,259 coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 51 from a week earlier, or a 4.2 percent increase. The previous week's hike was 3.5 percent.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 689 cases as of Sunday, up 16 from a week before, or a 2.4 percent increase. The previous week's hike was 3.6 percent.

The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

Hinsdale saw one more coronavirus-related death in the last week, totaling 58 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths remained the same at 10. Hinsdale's number is largely driven by a coronavirus outbreak at ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home earlier in the crisis.

The figure compares to 65.2 in La Grange Park, 65.7 in Darien, 67.6 in Western Springs, 74.3 in DuPage County, 75.5 in Elmhurst, 78.7 in Clarendon Hills, 82.2 in suburban Cook County, 86.3 in Burr Ridge and 91.3 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,126,301, up 2.3 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 19,243 state residents.

Nationally, 25.9 million people have caught the virus, up 4.2 percent from the week before. A total of 438,035 people have died from the virus in the United States.
