Clerk In Trouble, Burglary: Hinsdale Cops
A clerk was charged after officers saw underage people leaving with alcohol, police said.

HINSDALE, IL – In the last few days, Hinsdale police handled cases involving a clerk selling alcohol to minors, a burglary, theft and DUIs. Here is information from the latest Hinsdale police reports:
Selling to minors
- Shivam K. Patel, 25, of Mount Prospect, was cited about 5 p.m. Nov. 23 on a charge of selling alcohol to underage people. Police said they saw people who appeared to be younger than 21 leave Hinsdale Food Mart, 5827 S. Madison St., with alcohol. Patel works at the business. The police were there in response to a citizen's complaint. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
Burglary

- A house in the 600 block of West North Street was burglarized between Nov. 18 and Nov. 26. Police found pry marks on a door, indicating forced entry into the house. The resident was not at home when the burglary occurred. Nothing was reported stolen.
Credit cards stolen
- A woman told police that someone stole credit cards and a house key from her purse between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Nov. 19 in the 300 block of West Fourth Street. Fraudulent charges were made at a Chicago restaurant. She reported the theft two days later.
Identity theft

- A resident in the 400 block of South Jackson Street told police Nov. 22 that someone opened two fraudulent credit card accounts using the resident's identity.
- A resident in the 500 block of North Elm Street told police Nov. 23 that someone withdrew money electronically from the resident's bank account.
DUI
- Michael C. Belsky, 48, of Crestwood, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Nov. 20 at Interstate 294 and Ogden Avenue on charges of DUI, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and improper lane use. He refused testing to determine his blood-alcohol content. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Marzela Villa, 31, of Aurora, was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Sunday at Route 83 and 55th Street on charges of DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane use. Villa was stopped for striking a median barrier. She refused testing to determine her blood-alcohol content. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
