Coin Jar Stolen From Home: Hinsdale Police Blotter
An apartment resident told police a man tried to enter because he had nowhere else to stay.: More Hinsdale police blotter items.

Motor Vehicle Theft
A 2016 Land Rover Range Rover was reported stolen from a victim’s garage in the 200 block of North Grant Street at 12:53 a.m. on July 2. An unknown suspect entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the victim’s driveway and used the garage door opener to open the garage. The stolen vehicle was parked in the garage and was unlocked with the key inside.It was recovered that same day in Riverdale.

Criminal Trespass To Residence
An unknown suspect knocked on an apartment door in the 5500 block of South Madison Street at 3:30 a.m. on July 3 and said he didn’t have a place to stay for the night and attempted to open the door. The suspect opened a window and attempted to make entry. The suspect did not make entry into the apartment but dropped his backpack. The suspect described as a young Asian male wearing a black t-shirt.

Residential Burglary
A victim reported that a known suspect and a second suspect were inside her house without permission some time between 12:57 a.m. and 1:10 a.m. on July 2. The victim reported a coin jar with an estimated $10 in coins was taken. There were no signs of forced entry.
Theft
Someone stole a victim's bicycle sometime between 10:04 a.m. and 11:20 a.m. on July 4 while it was left unlocked from a bike rack at Washington Street and Chicago Avenue.
Criminal Damage To Government Supported Property
An unknown suspect damaged a park bench valued at $500 on school property at Madison School, 611 S. Madison St. sometime between midnight on July 5 and 7:30 a.m. on July 8.
Other Crimes
Multiple reports of burglary to vehicles and identity thefts were reported this week as well.
