Contractor Dispute In Clarendon Hills Involves Call To Cops
The homeowners suspect the contractor caused damage to their house, police said.

CLARENDON HILLS, IL – A Clarendon Hills couple is in a dispute with a contractor who was hired for a home renovation project, according to a police report.
The couple said the contractor abandoned the project, failed to pay subcontractors and left their home in the 200 block of Coe Road unlivable.
The couple fired the contractor in July after he had removed his tools and did not come back, the report said

On Jan. 21, the couple reported damage to their property to the police. They said the main water valve in the basement was fully opened, causing water to flow in their basement, according to the report. They suspected the contractor and his wife.
They also told police they had checked the house a week earlier, finding the main water valve off and everything was normal.

The couple said they were taking legal steps, filing a claim and seeking a lawyer because of a false lien that the contractor placed on their house, the report said.
An officer called the contractor and his wife and told them that they would be cited for trespassing if they returned to the Coe Road property, police said
The 40-year-old contractor is believed to live in Elmhurst.
