Coronavirus: 57 cases In Hinsdale And Clarendon Hills

The rate of cases in the villages is slightly higher than DuPage County as a whole.

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills had 57 confirmed cases of the coronavirus as of Sunday — 32 in Hinsdale and 25 in Clarendon Hills, according to health authorities. This total is nearly triple the April 1 number, when it was as many as 20.

On April 1, the DuPage County Health Department reported eight cases each in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills. At the time, Cook County reported one to four cases in the Cook portion of Hinsdale.

At the current level, Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills have 2.2 confirmed coronavirus cases per thousand. That compares to 3.4 in Riverside, 3.2 in La Grange, 1.8 in La Grange Park and 1.1 in Western Springs. In DuPage County as a whole, the rate is 1.8 cases per thousand.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count was more than 30,000, but the number of additional deaths fell Sunday after several days of higher counts. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 1,290 Illinois residents, according to the state Department of Public Health.

Public health authorities do not report coronavirus cases by municipality.
