Crashing Fugitive, Biting Suspect: Hinsdale Cops

Man crashes in Burr Ridge after Hinsdale officers stop him, report says.

HINSDALE, IL — In recent days, Hinsdale police have handled cases involving a fleeing suspect, an assault on a nurse and a drunken driver, among others. Here is the information from the latest Hinsdale reports:

  • Jessy J. Casey, 24, of Manteno, was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at 55th and Elm streets on charges of fleeing an officer, operating an uninsured vehicle, driving with a revoked license, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, disobeying a traffic control signal, improper passing and driving without a registration light. He was stopped for an equipment violation and was seen with a plastic bag of marijuana. He sped away when police instructed him to get out of the car. Later, Burr Ridge police saw Casey crash into a traffic sign at County Line Road and Veterans Boulevard. He had a warrant for his arrest and taken to the Cook County Jail.
  • Police saw a suspicious car about 3 p.m. Aug. 10 at the gas pumps at BP gas station, 149 E. Ogden Ave. A registration inquiry indicated the car had been reported stolen in suburban Lansing. The driver was stopped as she got out of the car. The woman, who said she had been drugged, requested paramedics. At the Hinsdale hospital, she bit a nurse on the thumb while the nurse was performing her duties. Charges against the woman are pending.
  • A hit-and-run crash took place about 2 p.m. Aug. 10 in the 10 block of East First Street. A witness saw the suspect hit an unoccupied parked car while pulling out of a parking space. The suspect was described as a white man in his 40s with red curly hair driving a black Range Rover.
  • A resident at ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home, 600 W. Ogden Ave., reported to police Aug. 14 that he was missing $28 to $38 from his wallet after he was moved to a new room. The money went missing between July 31 and Aug. 10.
  • A bicycle valued at $800 was stolen from a bike rack between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Aug. 17 in the 10 block of East Hinsdale Avenue. The bike was unlocked.
  • A person in the 200 block of East Third Street reported the loss of a credit card and four fraudulent charges totaling $692. The theft happened between July 17 and July 19 and reported Aug. 13.
  • Luciano Arriaga, 27, of Mendota, was arrested at midnight Aug. 13 at RML Specialty Hospital, 5601 S. County Line Road, on charges of DUI and resisting or obstructing an officer. Police were called to RML because of a possible intoxicated motorist in the parking lot. Officers believed he was under the influence of alcohol. He resisted officers while being placed under arrest. He submitted to testing that indicated he was over the legal limit. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Hinsdale Central High School staff reported damage to a security vehicle while it was parked in the staff lot. The damage was reported at 7:45 a.m. Aug. 14. A rear passenger side window was broken, and several wet footprints were on the hood.
