D-181 Considers Closing Schools
Decision is to be made by 3 p.m. Friday. District expects information from state officials.
HINSDALE, IL — Community Consolidated School District 181 is considering closing its schools in response to the coronavirus. A decision will be made by 3 p.m. Friday. The district serves elementary and middle school students in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills.
In a statement late Friday morning, Superintendent Hector Garcia announced that the district expects updated information from state officials this afternoon and that may result in closing the schools Monday.
"In the instance of a school closure, we will be in touch with families with additional details including our plans for e-learning. We will also meet with staff this afternoon," Garcia said in the statement. "We recognize the impact the closing of schools has on our families and are grateful for your understanding and support as we navigate this challenging situation."

On Wednesday, District 181 canceled extracurricular events for the time being because of the virus. It said it would re-evaluate its decision next Thursday.
