D181 Community Donates 1,000 Book Bags of School Supplies
More than 50 Student, Community Volunteers Pack Bags at Nov. 15 Event for Hurricane Relief

The “Care for Carolina” school supplies drive hosted in partnership with Community Consolidated School District 181, the District 181 Foundation, and the Rotary Club of Hinsdale collected 1,000 book bags worth of school supplies to be shipped to Robeson County Schools
in North Carolina. Robeson County is one of the largest school districts in North Carolina and its
schools were devastated by flooding and subsequent damage during Hurricane Florence earlier
this year.
Each District 181 school collected a specific type of supplies requested by the schools, such as
pens, pencils, notebooks and more. On November 15, more than 50 volunteers from the District
181 community gathered to pack the donated supplies into book bags. The bags were then
packed into a truck, donated by Cadence Premier Logistics, which will transport the supplies to
Robeson County.
“We are continuously looking for ways to engage our students and community in activities that
remind us of the importance of giving back,” said District 181 Superintendent Dr. Hector Garcia.
“We are so proud of the overwhelming support our students, families, and community partners
have shown in helping us reach our goal.”
