A Distraction For Hinsdale Central Students: School
The school announces the steps it is taking to deal with the problem.
HINSDALE, IL — Cellphone use is becoming a greater distraction at Hinsdale Central High School, the school said Thursday. It announced steps to combat the problem.
Since students have returned to in-person learning, teachers have been seeing students using their phones excessively during class time, the school said in an email blast.
The school told parents that they may receive emails from teachers about phone protocol in classrooms. In some cases, teachers have been writing office discipline referrals for phone use, but these actions have not been as successful as teachers and administrators would like, the email said.

The next step, the school said, is phone protocols in classrooms. Actions may include a "cell phone cubby" permanently installed on classroom walls, according to the email. The cubby is intended to be a temporary home for students' phones, which they can pick up at the end of class.
