Decision was made in collaboration with other districts, officials say.
CLARENDON HILLS, IL — Community Consolidated School District 181 is closing schools starting Monday in response to the coronavirus, the district announced in a mass email Friday afternoon. It serves elementary and middle school students in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills. The earliest students could return is April 6.
The closure was made in collaboration with area schools in an effort to promote social distancing to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, the district said.
"All activities and events are canceled effective immediately. Before and after-school care provided by The Community House at D181 schools is also canceled. We are working with our food service provider to establish a plan to provide meals for students who qualify," the district said in a statement.
