In honor of the state-wide celebration of Crossing Guard Appreciation Day on May 6, 2014, the students, staff and families of Community Consolidated School District 181 recognized the crossing guards for their neighborhood schools. With cards, flowers, and words of thanks, 23 individuals were applauded in a special way for their contribution to student and pedestrian safety. On April 28, the District 181 Board of Education approved a resolution to honor the crossing guards; the resolution noted that crossing guards have “earned the respect of motorists and pedestrians for their friendly but firm enforcement of safety guidelines.”
The crossing guards recognized in District 181 include: Barb Hall, Cyndee Marciniak, Karen Satutric, Joe Legner, Ilene Slonoff, Mary Beth Daly, Steve Less, James Peck, Alan Rapp, Lisa Prisby, Letty Washington, Adelia Thoelcke, Atasi Murkerjie, Walter Welninski, Keith Bergles, Maynard Priebe, Robert Pacheco, Jerry Vosecky, Becky Marshall, Jan Martin, Brian Murray, Keith Sellers, and Willie Sims.
