District 181 Collects School Supplies For North Carolina School

The drive will support the Robeson County school district in North Carolina.

HINSDALE, IL — District 181, the District 181 Foundation and the Hinsdale Rotary Club teamed up to support the losses the Robeson County school district in North Carolina faced after Hurrican Florence. According to a release, the school system was closed for several weeks due to the destruction.

To help support the school district, there will be a school supply drive until Nov. 14. Donations of goods or cash will be collected at all District 181 schools and at drop-off sites throughout the community.

According to a release, the goal is to fill 1,000 book bags with school supplies that are needed by Robeson County schools. Elm School is asking to collect 1,000 boxes of #2 pencils; Madison School is collecting 1,000 boxes of color pencils; Monroe School is collecting 3,000 2-pocket folders; Oak School is collecting 1,000 packages of blue or black pens; Prospect School is collecting 1,000 boxes of crayons; The Lane School is collecting 2,000 glue sticks; Walker School is collecting 1,000 packages of wide-ruled notebook paper; Clarendon Hills Middle School is collecting 2,000 wide-ruled spiral notebooks; and Hinsdale Middle School is collecting 1,000 pencil boxes/bags.

“We know that this effort will only be a small step on the long journey to recovery, but our work together will not only help kids in Robeson County, it will also enhance our students’ education and further support the lifelong lesson of helping others,” District 181 Superintendent Dr. Hector Garcia said in a release.
