District 181 Wins Communications Awards

District 181 has been awarded multiple honors in the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) 2014 Communication Awards Contest. NSPRA had over 700 entries this year from both public and private schools nationwide. District 181 earned recognition in the Publications and Electronic Media competition with two Awards of Excellence and two Awards of Merit. The District was also recognized with a Golden Achievement Award, the contest’s top honor.

Director of Communications Bridget McGuiggan and Assistant to the Director of Communications and Graphic Designer Audrey Galvin submitted the District’s entries. Their Keynote presentation for Projected Enrollment co-created by former Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Doug Eccarius as well as their 2012-13 Annual Report each won an Award of Excellence. Awards of Merit were given for the Learning for All Family Education Series brochure and also for writing of an Annual Report article about U.S. Gold Medal Paralympian and District alumna Megan Fisher. NSPRA Executive Director Richard D. Bagin wrote he was “delighted” to congratulate District 181 on their achievements.

The Golden Achievement Award was given for the District’s initial launch of branding efforts. Golden Achievement Awards require demonstration of the four-step communications process: research, analysis, communication/planning, and evaluation. Bagin notes, “Successful public relations programs require the talents of many people; this effort was evident in your winning entry.”
