District 86 Education First PAC Chooses Candidates

The PAC has announced support of Kathleen Hisman, Cynthia Hanson, Erik Held and Nagla Fetouh as candidates for the District 86 board.

HINSDALE, IL — The District 86 Education First PAC has announced support of Kathleen Hisman, Cynthia Hanson, Erik Held and Nagla Fetouh as candidates for the District 86 Board of Education. According to a release from the organization, the candidates have outlined a five-year plan which focuses on the health and growth of the district, including academic excellence, building a unified community through inclusive and transparent leadership, and conscientious financial stewardship.

Hirsman is a current school board member. She is a 34-year resident of the district, and holds a BA in English literature, a MA in linguistics and a JD from Loyola University School of Law. According to the PAC, Hirsman has represented school boards in labor negotiations, student issues and employment matters as a school district attorney.

Hanson is a 43-year resident of the district and an alumna of Hinsdale South. The PAC said she is currently completing a term on the Gower school board. Hanson is an Illinois Licensed Professional Counselor.

Held is an alumnus of Hinsdale Central and currently serving his second year as a trustee for the Maercker Education Foundation. The PAC said Held is currently a financial advisor with UBS Financial Services/The Held Group where he has been recognized two years running (2017, 2018) by Forbes Magazine as one of America’s Top Next-Generation wealth advisors.

Fetouh is a 5-year resident of the district, and is currently serving as the board secretary for the Gower Foundation for Excellence in Education and was a member of the 2018 D86 Strategic Planning Committee. The PAC said Fetouch is running for the 2-year unexpired term on the board. Fetouh has a MA in Secondary Education.

Other candidates for the April 2 election are Matthew Marron of Hinsdale, Fotini Bakopoulous of Burr Ridge; Yvonne Mayer of Burr Ridge; and Urszula Tanouye of Willowbrook. Marty Turek of Clarendon Hills is the other candidate running for the unexpired two-year term.
