District 86 Plans For Chromebooks For Every Student

Starting next school year, all District 86 students will receive a Chromebook.

HINSDALE, IL — At the beginning of the 2018-19 school year, every Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South student will receive a Chromebook. According to the district, the transition to a 1:1 learning environment provides students with the tools for "an excellent high school education."

The district said it chose Chromebooks because the device's battery life will let students work through the whole school day, the district and monitor student use at school through a management console, the computers update themselves, and there is a full-featured internet browser.

Each student at both high schools will be assessed a technology fee of $150 during fall registration next school year. This will contribute to the cost of the Chromebook, accessories and software licenses, the district said.
