District 86 Superintendent Dr. Bruce Law Leaving For New Job
Dr. Bruce Law will leave District 86 at the end of the school year to lead a north suburban high school district.

HINSDALE, IL — Dr. Bruce Law will be out as Hinsdale Township High School District 86 superintendent at the end of the school year. Law has been named the next superintendent at the Township High School District 113 in north suburban Deerfield and Highland Park, where he will start in the new role on July 1 after completing the current school year in Hinsdale. Assistant Superintendent for Student Services Tammy Prentiss will be the next District 86 superintendent.
“I will be forever grateful to have served as superintendent in Hinsdale District 86 for these past six years,” Law said. “Our schools are the jewels of the community, and I have had the opportunity to work with our students, teachers, parents and staff to build and enhance the tradition of excellence for which District 86 schools are so well known.”

District 113 Board President Elizabeth Garlovsky praised Law's "student-centered approach" in announcing their selection.
“His student-centered approach that emphasizes equity and opportunity for all students, strong focus on collaborative leadership, and excellent communication skills are complemented by a deep understanding of school district operations and finance.”

Law, Prentiss and District 86 Board President Bill Carpenter stressed that a smooth transition is to take place in the district's first superintendent change since 2013.
Prentiss said she is "honored and humbled" to be promoted to the top administrative position in the district.
“I appreciate the board’s confidence in my leadership," she said.
In a statement, Carpenter said that Prentiss "has demonstrated the ability to manage and to lead."
"We look forward to approving a contract very soon so that this spring Ms. Prentiss can work with Dr. Law to lay the groundwork for a smooth transition in leadership."
