Dog Bite, Hit-And-Run Crash: Hinsdale Cops
A woman was bitten by a dog while walking on a Hinsdale street, police say.
HINSDALE, IL — In recent days, Hinsdale police handled cases involving a dog bite, a hit-and-run crash, an attempted scam and driving violations. Here is information from the reports:
Dog bite
- A woman was bitten by a dog about 10 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of South Madison Street. She said it happened while she was walking on the road. She said the dog was not wearing a collar and came running from a yard on the block. The dog owner was cited, and an animal bite report was forwarded to DuPage County Animal Control. The bite was reported to police three days after it happened.

- A driver told police that she was rear-ended while stopped at a red light about 6 p.m. Friday at 55th Street and County Line Road. The offending driver took off while the victim called police. The driver was described as a black woman with short hair and wearing a brown hat and dark clothes. She was driving a Jeep.
Attempted scam
- A resident in the 10 block of East Fifth Street was the victim of an attempted scam Saturday. The victim received a call from a person claiming to be an Xfinity representative. The caller instructed the victim to buy a prepaid debit card and that he would then install a firewall for internet security. The victim recognized it was a scam and did not purchase the prepaid card.

- Jontel M. Biles, 34, of Chicago, was cited about 2 a.m. Jan. 19 at Route 83 and Ogden Avenue on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Leslie A. Walker, 40, of Lyons, was cited about 1:30 a.m. Jan. 21 at Route 83 and 55th street on a charge of no valid driver's license. The suspect was released and given a date to appear in court. In the same stop, passenger Michael A. Cooper, 60, of Summit, was arrested on a warrant and taken to the Cook County Jail.
- Lilli T. Linn, 18, of Hinsdale, was cited about 1 a.m. Jan. 19 in the 500 block of Walker Road on charges of illegal possession of alcohol by a person under 21 and improper lighting. The police report said she had a container of alcoholic seltzer. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
- James S. Mayes, 36, of Chicago, was arrested shortly after midnight Sunday in the 500 block of South Madison on a charge of trespassing. The suspect attempted to enter the victim's apartment after he was served a no trespassing order.
