Dozen New Hinsdale Virus Cases In Month
Clarendon Hills sees just one new coronavirus case in last week, figures show.
HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale saw five more coronavirus cases over the last week, according to health authorities. As of Sunday, the number stood at 189, which is a dozen more than over a month ago.
Meanwhile, neighboring Clarendon Hills saw its number increase by just one over the previous week. Here is the growth in coronavirus case numbers in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills:

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 10.7 coronavirus cases per thousand people. That compares to 3.7 in Western Springs, 5.7 in Clarendon Hills, 6.3 in Elmhurst and La Grange Park, 6.5 in Darien 9.1 in Burr Ridge, 9.7 in DuPage County, 12.9 in La Grange and 14.3 in suburban Cook County.

As of Friday, ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home had reported 168 coronavirus cases and 32 related deaths, according to the state Department of Public Health. That was the exact number of cases that the nursing home had a week before. The number of deaths increased by one over the previous week. Nursing home numbers include employees who may live in other towns. So not all the cases are attributed to Hinsdale.
While Hinsdale has a hospital in its boundaries — Amita Adventist Medical Center Hinsdale — that would not explain the village's caseload. Coronavirus patients are counted at the place of their residence, not at the hospital where they are admitted, according to the state.
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 141,723, up 4 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 6,888 state residents.
Nationally, 2.5 million people have caught the virus and 125,484 have died from it.
