DUI Arrest Made In Holiday Operation: Hinsdale Cops

The Hinsdale Police Department assigned five officers to extra patrol duties over the holidays.

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale police made one DUI arrest over the holidays as part of its increased efforts with law enforcement across the state to crack down on drunken driving — an operation known as "Driver Sober or Get Pulled Over," the village said in a news release Thursday. Through the operation, the Hinsdale police also made three arrests for driving without valid licenses and issued three citations for failure to wear seat belts and one for use of a cellphone while driving.

The police department said it increased enforcement from Dec. 16 to Jan. 2, assigning five officers to extra patrol duties. The officers emphasized late-night hours, when statistics show most unbuckled and impaired driving fatalities occur, the release said.

"The 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' campaign helps our law enforcement officers address this problem head on. Because of this special enforcement effort, our roads were safer for the holidays," Deputy Chief Thomas Lillie said in the release.
