DUI Driver Narrowly Escapes As Car Is Hit By Train: Hinsdale Cops
A Downers Grove man has been charged with DUI after he turned onto railroad tracks and his car was struck by a freight train.

HINSDALE, IL — A Downers Grove man has been charged with DUI after he turned onto railroad tracks and his car was struck by a freight train. According to police reports, Michael Hochstetler was charged with DUI-alcohol and trespassing on railroad property after the incident at 3:49 a.m. Feb. 7 at Washington Street and the railroad tracks in Hinsdale.
According to police, Hochstetler followed directions from his GPS and turned onto the train tracks. He was able to get out of his vehicle before it was struck by a train. Hochstetler then submitted testing that revealed he was over the legal limit.
He has been released and will appear in local court.
